Apparition Hill

In the end of the June 1981, from 24th until 26th, at the hill called Crnica, near the place called Podbrdo, six young child have witnessed apparitions of Virgin Mary. They prayed and spoke with Our Lady.

With the messages: “I have chosen this parish in a special way and I wish to lead it.”, “Peace, peace, peace – and only peace! Peace must reign between God and man and between men!”, the hill Crnica, today called Apparition Hill has become the most important pilgrimage site for Catholics in this part of the World.

Once we arrive to Podbrdo, you will have a chance to do 20/30min hike up the hill, to the Virgin Mary statue and enjoy the “divine” and “spiritual” moments on your own.

We are not limited by time, so time spend at the Apparition Hill depends on guests pace and decision.

Wonderful private tour of Medjugorje and Mostar from Dubrovnik

My husband and I were interested in visiting Medjugorje from Dubrovnik but didn’t want to be rushed as many of the day trips seemed to be. The private tour with an overnight in Mostar planned by Emma at Funky tours was an incredible experience. We started day one at 7 a.m. and were driven to the border by a very competent driver, Gino, where we met our wonderful guide, Ajla. We were able to make the English Mass at Medjugorje and spend relaxed time visiting the grounds and sites of interest.

On the way to Mostar we stopped at a small winery to purchase local wine and then went to Mostar for a private wine tasting with Mirna at the Spirit of Herzegovina wine shop right by the Mostar bridge. Ajla knew there were AC issues with the hotel in old town Mostar so she booked us into a very upscale hotel in a modern shopping center. We enjoyed looking in the shops and stopping for an espresso. We walked back to the old town and enjoyed a drink in one of the squares. The day trippers were leaving so the old town became very calm and quiet. That evening we enjoyed a typical Bosnian dinner at Restaurant Šadrvan and the next day Ajla gave us a private tour of an essentially empty Mostar. We had a pleasant espresso stop at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the river and the famous bridge before heading back to Dubrovnik with stops to see Blagaj’s Dervish Monastery and the old medieval town of Pocitelj.

Ajla was a great tour guide sharing history, both ancient and more recent and personal stories. She knew the best places to go and the best way to get there. The drive up to Pocitelj was especially memorable! We had a last meal at Ljetna Basta Old Mill Restaurant which specializes in trout right from their own trout pen in the river by a waterfall. We opted not to stop at the Kravica waterfall, so Ajla said she brought the waterfall to us!

Funky Tours was easy to correspond with prior to the trip and managed all the details for us. Our overnight to Bosnia and Herzegovina was a highlight of our trip to Croatia. Thanks, Funky Tours!

Fantasic! Top Notch!

My friend and I used Sarajevo Funky Tours for a tour to Medjugorje, Mostar, Blagaj, Kravice waterfalls, and a few other stops. The initial tour communication was quick and professional. The actual tour itself was a fantastic all day adventure! Out guide, Arna, was extremely knowledgeable, personable, intelligent, and friendly. She is so much more than a tour guide- she has the insight, history, experience, and love of BiH to make really astute and interesting conversation. It wasn’t just superficial or rote memorization from a guidebook. She knows the places, people, and culture. Furthermore, she was flexible with what we wanted to see and spend time visiting and offered suggestions for future adventures. I would absolutely recommend this company and I look forward to booking another excursion with them.

I left my heart in SARAJEVO

Arna, our most attentive, kind and energetic guide drove us from Sarajevo to Medugorje, the spectacular Kravice Waterfalls and fascinating Mostar. I would have to rate it the best one day tour I’ve ever taken.

Adnan was a walking historical encyclopaedia of Sarajevo and great company.

Sarajevo Funky Tours are the best of the best and I’d recommend them to any visitor to Bosnia Herzegovina. There is genuine warmth in this country and it is so endearing. Restaurants are excellent and Arna booked us into Kibe. From its location over the city, the views are spectacular, as is the food.

Thanks again Arna, Adnan and all at SFT’s
