 Bosnia summer tour

Skender rooks my 6 aunts and uncles through Bosnia and Croatia. I was an add-on, joining them in Banja Luka for a short while. He took them around for ten days and they wanted to adopt him. He was kind and patient.

You definitely gets your money's worth at SFT!

My wife and I booked the hike at Bjelasnica Mountain, the siege tour, the day trip to Mostar, and a transfer from Mostar to Dubrovnik. The hike at Bjelasnica Mountain was amazing! The views are absolutely breathtaking! It was the highlight of our Bosnia trip. I wish we had more time to do another hike or two. You need to be in decent shape to do this hike. Skender said you could do a shortened hike but even that seemed hard. We had lunch in a little village and the food was very good. you'll even get an opportunity to buy some very nice hand woven wool socks. We bought a few pairs for fireplace. They were more expensive than the ones in town but they were of much better quality. After lunch we continued the hike for at least another couple of hours. It was a full day! Like i said, you definitely get your money's worth with this tour group. The next day we did the siege tour with Faruk. It was worth the money just for the cool views of Sarajevo from above. Nice little bonus to get a good history of the war in the 90s. The third day we did the tour of Mostar. Be prepared for the heat because it's hot in Herzegovina! Again, it was a FULL day tour! We didn't get back to the hotel in Mostar until about 9pm. I feel like a lot of tours fall short of SFTs! Faruk was a very good tour guide. We loved his good sense humor. We needed to get from Mostar to Dubrovnik the following day and we didn't have a good bus experience getting from split to sarajevo so I asked faruk for a transfer the next day. It was a 100 euros which i thought was a good price for a 2.5 hour transfer so i booked it. Sonya who picked us up was very nice. I will definitely be booking with SFT when we return to Bosnia which i hope will be soon because it was one of the highlights of the former Yugoslavia. We did tours with groups to cut down on costs. It was little over 200 euros for the 3 tours and then another 100 with the transfer. My only recommendation for them would be better air conditioning! Mostar is hot!

 Outstanding service and friendly staff

Contacted the company based on all the wonderful reviews from TA. Skender promptly replied via email and helped tailor our one way trip from Sarajevo to Kotor with multiple stops in BiH, including Mostar. We also arranged to be picked up from the airport the day before and visit the tunnel. Faruk was our guide, and he was just a delight to be with. Informative, fun, and full of energy. Never felt like this was just work for him, or another tour. Even after a full day of driving he was still doing his best to give us info and keep us entertained. The tour is a little pricey, but a good value considering the number of sites visited and the distance travelled. I am usually an independent traveller, but would have been unable to do this by bus in one day. Highly recommended.

Top Notch!

We absolutely loved everything about Funky tours. From the minute we started writing to plan the trip we knew it would be fabulous. Skender helped make sure that our tour was customized to what we wanted to see.

Skender picked us up at the airport when we arrived and provided us some background on the city as he took us to our hotel. He was very friendly and made sure he answered any questions we had before leaving us at our hotel.

The next day Skender had us booked for the city walking tour. We do not remember the name of the guide but he was excellent. He knew all the facts on Sarajevo. We were with a nice couple on the tour and he was willing to stop at a cafe along the way when we said we needed a rest break.

The next day is when we started our two day tour with Faruk. He was an awesome tour guide. He was so fun, knew all the history of what we saw and pretty much could naivgate anywhere in Bosnia. He made sure we got our vegetarian food, had great music to listen to in the car and that we got to visit the Olympic museum, Bob Sleds and an added bonus of the Olympic ski slopes. Also, he even was our photographer capturing every shot along the way.

On the second day, I ended up getting really sick on the tour and Faruk was willing to do anything to help me. He even offered to help find a doctor if needed later in our trip in Dubrovnik.

After our two days we thought the tour would end there. However, both Skender and Faruk checked in over the next couple days to see how I was doing and if we needed anything. We know we will be life long friends with Faruk.

Do not hesitate to book a tour with them. You will not be sorry. Worth every penny!

Great way to travel from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo

It's difficult to get to Sarajevo from Dubrovnik, so we were delighted with this service. Dado spoke good English and gave us the background of the history and current politics of his country. The van was comfortable, and he stopped (or didn't) whenever we asked. "This is YOUR trip" was his constant reminder. Especially liked eating lunch outside by a lovely river.

 Leisure

My friend and I got this company to pick us up in Dubrovnik, drive to Mostar where we stayed overnight and drive next day towards Sarajevo. We stopped in interesting and beautiful places and had wonderful food and accommodation. Energetic and charming Faruk, who is a member of the SAFT team regaled us with stories and facts about everything from History to Environment to Social Science all along the way. Everything was ably organised through communication with the inimitable Skender. Can't recommend them enough.

Great, safe, and moving trip from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo and more!

My wife and I chose to spend part of our honeymoon in Bosnia and we hired Sarajevo Funky Tours to guide us from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo over a two-day tour with an overnight in Mostar. The heartbreaking history of Bosnia/Herzegovina is well known, but the people we met in our travels were warm, open, and doggedly hopeful. Our guides, Faruk and Armina, as well as the other people they introduced us to, were excellent emissaries of their country.

The entire experience of working with this company was efficient and enjoyable. The scheduling of the tour was easy and payment was secure. Skender, the owner of the company, checked in on us numerous times before and during our trip. The company arranged for a private transfer that picked us up in Dubrovnik and took us across the border into Herzegovina. Our guide, Faruk, picked us up there and took us on a wonderful tour that included a visit to a home for tea, a private guided tour of a cave system, and a in depth description of the geography and history of the territory that we drove through on the way to Mostar. The tour also included time in Ottoman ruins in Pocitelj and a wonderful dinner along a beautiful river next to a Islamic holy site. The hotel in Mostar, arranged for by the company, was a 5-star, new facility with anything one could wish for. There was also a lot of flexibility available on the tour based on the weather and how we were feeling.

The following day we went on a 3 hour walking tour of the old city of Sarajevo, including an in-depth discussion of the Ottoman, Austo-Hungarian, Communist, and modern history of the town. Armina, our guide, grew up in the city and survived the siege. She was proud of her town while remaining honest about its challenges.

If you are going to Bosnia/Herzegovina and are looking for a guide look no further. These are the folks to trust for the best possible experience.

Tour with Woww!! Factors

Went as family of 4, with my husband & 2 teenage girls. We were greeted at the airport by Skender, who brought us around on City Tour and later Siege Tour. We relished the deep knowledge and insights Skender shared with us about the history of Bosnia, the places, people and food! His colleague, Faruk brought us to Sebrenica, Mostar, Dubrovnik and all around Herzegovina. Many pleasant surprises like riding a horsedrawn carriage with Santa & Christmas Celebration at a school in Ravno. There was never a dull moment riding in Faruk's bright yellow van. We had a great family holiday with these guys.

If you're going to the Balkans, engage them. You'll have a great time, for sure.
