 Great guide

I visited Sarajevo and Srebrenica in May 2012. Thanks to my guide Skender, it was an interesting trip and a great experience. He seems to know a lot of people and definitely has lot of knowledge. The Sarajevo Siege Tour is a must and I also recommend everybody to go to Srebrenica and see the Memorial.

Full package! Great experience! Amazing Funky Tours!

We are studnet group from Utrecth, Netherlands, which decided to go to Balkans on a studnet trip with main focus on Bosnia, but did not had much experience with this regio/countryn except knowing it from medias and bit around..then we contacted Sarajevo Funky Tours, and thak God we did so :) we were picked up in Dubrovnik, brought to Sarajevo where we stayed in great hostel (owned by the agency owners) in the pure center of Old town of Sarajevo, and ideal for groups like ours (17).. we booked a whole building and it was just as perfect.

We did few tours including Sarajevo Siege tour, where we learned amazing stories from our GREAT guide of how Sarajevo made it through these unfortunate days. Then old town tour, Srebrenica tour and amazing Mostar tour. We think we have seen almost whole country in 5 days as we stayed in Sarajevo which none of us will ever forget.
In the end we left Sarajevo by train to Budapest (amazing place as well).
We must say only that our hosts were amazing in every possible situation (visa problems, some students were bit sick but luckly all fine tahnks to Sabina tea, etc.), and they treated us like we were their own. Bosnia was surely our favorite place and we would not experience it any beter than we did with funky tours.
Thank you Sarajevo Funky Tours (many of us will be bask soon).

 Not to be Missed!!

I took the one day tour to Srebrenica. There were only 2 of us but Skender kindly still agreed to take us. We are both lawyers and were interested in going to Srebrenica having read so much about the trials related to Srebrenica. To say that Skender is well read on the subject is an understatement. He was fascinating to listen to and is not only extremly well informed but very objective in what he says about the war and the genocide. While it may seem morbid to visit the scene of the worst genocide in Europe since WWII, it is essential in my opinion, in order to understand Bosnia & Herzegovina and its challenges today. It was a very moving experience to be at Srebrenica and Skender also was thoughtful enough to give us time alone to walk around the memorial centre to take it all in. I cannot rate him highly enough and the next time I am in Sarajevo, I will be looking him up to go on one of his other tours!!

 Outstanding Experience

A second successive visit to Sarajevo last summer and a massive highlight was a trip to Srebrenica with Funky Tours. They were amazing and went out of their way to ensure the whole day was spent in the hands of experts. The family-run business has so many different experiences from the recent history of Bosnia to offer and this trip was a memorable experience. We spent time speaking with the people from Portocari and Srebrenica, asking many questions and visiting monuments to this terrible time in European history. What made the visit so exceptional was the first had experience the guys at Funky Tours offered. They have a wealth of expertees to draw on and your knowledge and understanding of these recent events expanded throughout the day. I really look forward to returning in 2012.

The Sebrenica Tour: An impressive tour form a great guide

We, 6 Dutch friends, booked this tour to Sebrenica and Potocari in July with Skender as our guide. We already knew something about this massacre (because of the Dutch involvement), but visiting this place (the cemetery, the memorial site, the factory in which Duthcbat had its base etc.) gave everything an extra more real dimension. Moreover, the movie that is shown at the factory combined with the information and stories that Skender presented to us makes this tour overall very interesting.

We would surely recommend this tour to everyone visiting Sarajevo

 Excellent tours with small groups

Skender was an excellent guide. We first did the total siege tour, which gave us lots of information about what happened in the Sarajevo siege. We liked Skender tour so much we decided to stay in Sarajevo one more night and do the Srebrenica tour.
Both tours are very personal and give you great insight into the conflict in Bosnia.

 Use Sarajevo Funky Tours!

SFT are number one in Sarajevo for good reason. I got in touch with Skender for recommendations and advice before leaving London. The information he provided came back quickly (24-48 hours) and was helpful.

We made use of his airport transfer service, went on the Sarajevo Siege Tour and also visited Srebrenica. His knowledge and passion for the subjects are impressive and he showed no sign of getting bored at any point.

Using his organised services is one thing but the value added stuff that he didn't have to provide made all the difference. Right at the end of one of his tours my wife became ill and he allowed me to defer paying him (all tours are paid for on completion) and also phoned me later that evening to enquire after her health and even offer the services of his Mum who is a doctor - thankfully we didn't need it.

I'm also a big football (soccer) fan and he gave me invaluable information on how to attend a local match and would even have joined me if it wasn't for a late switch in the kick-off time.

All in all I can't recommend SFT enough!

The best option for guided tours in Bosnia i Herzegovina.

This was an outstanding tour and overall experience that I cannot recommend enough. I was in Sarajevo conducting academic research into trials relating to the wars of the 90s in the former Yugoslavia and my fiance found Sarajevo Funky Tours on the internet. We contacted Skender and he was incredibly helpful. We took a tour with a journalist from Romania, and had a terribly enlightening, educative and emotional experience.

As a scholar of the dissolution of the former Yugoslavia I felt it was important to visit Srebrenica during my research in Sarajevo. We had contemplated whether going there on our own or whether to take a tour, and I could not be more pleased that we chose to take the Sarajevo Funky Tour 'Srebrenica, Never Forget' tour. Skender was an amazing guide, and provided a lot of frank discussion and insight into Bosnian history and society during our drive to Srebrenica (the drive is stunningly beautiful - particularly our return trip at sunset, which was stunning).

The Srebrenica memorial is a moving testament to the suffering, but also the endurance of those who were forced to experience it. Skender organised for us to speak with a survivor and memorial center director. This was a fascinating discussion, particularly for myself. However, I believe that anyone would benefit from visiting Srebrenica and taking this tour. The memorial centre itself is fascinating, with contributions from Emir Suljagic (a survivor of Srebrenica), a well produced documentary and moving photographs. The real power however is in the "rawness" of the site and how it has been maintained as a site of tragedy in the same condition as it was during the siege and fall.

During the tour we stopped for lunch at a restaurant recommended by Skender. It was a great meal and the atmosphere around the table was jovial and relaxed (no small feat for our host considering the topic of the tour - but it was a very welcome respite from the tragedy of Srebrenica).

I highly recommend this tour. If I had not been tied up with research work we would certainly have participated in other tours from Sarajevo Funky Tours as well. I also believe that if I were to stay again in Sarajevo I would stay at Skender's hostel. This is how impressed I was with the professionalism of Skender and his company.
