Total Siege Tour - Excellent! Don't miss it!

As a 20th Century history teacher, I have always been interested in visiting Sarajevo. As a part of a visit I wanted to go on a tour that would allow me to be the student and learn about Sarajevo's recent past. The Total Siege Tour with Skender was a fantastic learning experience. Throughout the whole tour, Skender was extremely informative and professional. We were able to visit sites that were a little off the beaten track, but allowed us to gain a more realistic insight to the siege of Sarajevo. I'm soooo glad I went on the tour. Don't miss it! FANTASTIC!

 Better than a million books

My tour with Skender was easily the best guided tour I have had in my travels around the world: the amount of information provided regarding the War and the Siege gave me a better understanding than a million books about the same topic. Explanations were clear, impartial and accurate, still interesting. I like people with passion and Skender is indeed full of it. A very unique kind of tour.

This tour adds value to your Sarajevo visiting

Sarajevo is beautiful but hard to understand and to reach its core qualities. Our tour guide Skender from Sarajevo Funky Tours adds a surplus value to our visit to Sarajevo. As students from the Centre of Conflict Studies, the Netherlands, we gained a better understanding of the last war due to Skenders knowledge and personal stories. But besides that, he gave us with the Total Siege Tour a vision of the people and its culture. He showed us the most beautiful views at Sarajevo and Skender is by the best and nicest guide we had. We recommend him as a tour guide and the Total Siege Tour to everyone who wishes to experience and enjoy Sarajevo’s beauty, history and culture.

Absolutely fantastic - the best way to experience Sarajevo

My husband and I didn't have much time in Sarajevo, so decided to book SFT's city tour for the morning, and the total seige tour in the afternoon. I am so glad we did, as we both agree it was one of the best days we have ever spent travelling! Our guide, Skender, took us out for the day privately, and I have to say, he is definitely the best guide I have ever had. Perfect English, very knowledgeable but balanced, clearly very passionate about the region and ALL of it's people, Skender gave us an insight into the city as only a true local can. We visited all the main city sights (including mosques, churches and synagogues) as well as all the major sights from the war, including the tunnel museum. He drove us up the mountains with beautiful views to show how the seige happened. While visiting bombed out buildings sounds depressing, it was absolutely fascinating, and Skender was kind enough to tell his personal story. He was incredibly open, and we were able to ask personal questions, which he always answered with great thought and humour. I came away from the tour with a far better comprehension of the conflict than I would have done otherwise, and it has sparked inside me a passion for Bosnia and its people. As such, we were very happy when Skender gave us a dvd full of documentaries about the country as a parting gift!

Overall, we left the tour feeling like we had just spent the day with a good (and very knowledgeable!) friend who just happened to know the city. We couldn't have asked for more and have since recommended Sarajevo Funky Tours to family and friends. If you are heading to Bosnia, check them out!

An honest, interesting, informative and very entertaining tour!

If you are interested in the siege of Sarajevo and the history surrounding it then this tour is well worth doing. Skender is the true professional and very knowledgable of the siege but also the history surrounding it. He tells this very confusing part of history in such a clear and concise way that even I now have a firm understanding of it! You get a history lesson, but also a good day out with a very personable guy. I can recommend this enough!

Mindblowing, exotic, totally unexpected in a good way!

Random choice for an inexpensive winter escapade that ended up with us being ever so enchanted with this beautiful Balkan country and all thanks to Skender for the amazing experience right from the start.

His honest and candid approach won us over right from the first time of the many email exchanges before even confirming our trip. Thank God we followed our heart!

We would recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat!

 Incredible Day...Worth Every Penny

As independent travellers we were going to "do" Sarajevo by ourselves. However, we met Skender and spent a day with him visiting the famous tunnel museum and other highlights in and around Sarajevo. He added so much local flavour to the trip, he really made the city and its often complicated history come alive. With a small group of just 4 people, he was able to make the tour personal and flexible, happy to stop off at the bus station so we could some tickets etc. Having lived through the recent war, our guide Skender was perfectly placed to fill us in on what daily life was actually like under siege. Some cities are easily managed on your own, but the extra value Skender brought to the day was truly worth every penny. Book it, and you will not regret it.

By far the best way to discover the gem that is Sarajevo for families, students or groups

We booked a custom tour around Sarajevo for me and my three children with Sarajevo Funky Tours. It was by far the best choice –our personal guide collected us and drove us around safely and comfortably (more than can be said for taxis!) to every single sight we wanted to see all in one day making it great value for money. Our guide had an in depth knowledge of everything from the Tunnel to architecture, the rebuilding of the city, the history of every individual sight, the best places to lunch, dine and stay, and he even organised unique family fun things to do like a horse and carriage ride in Velo Brosne. He made the history and natural beauty come to life for my five and six year olds and for me too. He showed us the beauty and the tragedy of Sarajevo in a personal and authentic way that was fun, interesting, entertaining, informative and strangely uplifting. I wouldn’t tour Sarajevo any other way if you are a family, student or group discovering the gem that is Sarajevo.
