Zvornik is one of the oldest cities in BiH. It was founded in 1410, under the Majevica Mountain, on the left bank of the Drina River. It is situated at 146 meters above sea level. This city was and still is the intersection of significant roads and therefore, it has been considered „the key to Bosnia“. Due to the very favorable natural and geographical position, it was populated even three thousand years ago. The Roman traces prove that the area surrounding Zvornik was densely populated and that it was well protected by the Roman forts. There are 1404 facilities and 900 tombstones at 234 different sites originating from the Roman period. However, this area still has not been sufficiently explored archeologically. In the Zvornik area, there are significant monuments of spiritual tradition and places of worship of different faiths.
